So what is First Aid?
Take a look at some of the words you may hear when learning about First Aid.

First Aid

Helping or looking after someone before an ambulance or medical person arrives

Accident

Something that happens which you do not expect and someone gets hurt or even killed!

Safety

Being free from the risk of danger or getting hurt

Risk

The chance of something that could be dangerous happening

Danger

Something that could cause someone to get hurt or ill

Injury

Actual damage to a part of a person's body

Casualty

The person who is hurt or killed in an accident

Hazard

Something that is likely to cause an accident or injury

Emergency

A dangerous event that happens very suddenly and needs action to be taken immediately

Potential

An accident that has not happened yet but is very possible

Prevention

Trying to make sure that an accident does not happen by making a sensible plan

Fatal

An accident that does or could cause death
